On Wednesday 10 January approximately 17:30 a report of an armed robbery on Noordhoek beach was reported to Komwatch (Kommetjie NHW).A suspect had allegedly robbed a couple near to Kommetjie side of Noordhoek beach.
Private security companies and NHW responded immediately and with the assistance of community members the suspect was detained in possession of the weapon and stolen items. The suspect was handed over to Ocean View SAPS.
A private investigator jointly funded by Kommetjie NHW and Chapmans Peak NHW will be assisting the NHW's to track the case.
Thanks to the hard work by committees of Kommetjie and Chapmans Peak NHW and the quick response of the private security companies involved.
This by no means eliminates the risk of further attacks on the beach and both NHW's are actively liaising with SANPARKS and SAPS to ensure they continue patrols on the beach. In addition to this, the privately funded tactical security team will continue their operations in conjunction with SANPARKS.
