Date posted: March 19, 2015

Flare ups

Date posted: March 17, 2015

We had a small fire above Beach road, between the houses and Chapman’s Peak drive this morning. It was spotted by a resident and put out by another. Seems it was caused by still smouldering roots and the change of wind direction. There have also been reports of a few flareups around De Goede Hoop estate and the old Kaolin mine last night.

We are asking residents to remain vigilant and to look up at the mountain if you are in the area. This morning’s incident was opposite the Milk Wood Forest above the properties on the northern side of Beach Road and below the drive.

Please phone 081 789 2769 or 082 652 7474 or call it in on Channel 8 if you have a radio.

Help needed

Date posted: March 6, 2015

We have had a few flareups this morning in the area between Chapmans Peak Drive and our houses. That is, on the Southern side of Chapman’s Peak drive.
We are asking residents in the Chapman’s Peak area to put on their boots and gloves and walk the perimeter of Chapman’s Peak Drive as well as the pine forest / verge to check for hotspots. You will need a spade to put out small pockets of heat. Come Up Millstone Close or park near the boom – one of the hotspots is just there. Also further west from there. Look for plumes of smoke and put them out! Take your cell phone and emergency numbers in case anything goes beyond your capability. Best to go in pairs or meet up with someone and stay with them. Call Patrick on 082 6527474 if you see something serious or something that is worrying you. These hotspots come and go, please wear good boots and watch where you stand. It might not be smoking when you first go past one but it might start on the way back. Pile earth on top of the spot.

Beware – Theft by hitch hiker targeting our area

Beware of hitch hikers.
I foolishly did what I never have before and picked up a male hitch hiker from the crossing by Noordhoek Farm village and gave him a lift over Ou Kaap Se Weg last Tuesday 25th Nov.
I dropped him off at the bottom by the fire centre and 5 mins later when I got to my destination I discovered that he had stolen my wallet from my bag which I had out behind his seat and covered with a child’s car seat. I then saw him at the corner of Main Rd Noordhoek and the Silvermine rd today again thumbing a lift so I called the police but he had already gone by the time they got there. He had apparently been at the end of Beach rd 10 minutes earlier.
He is a black guy in his mid 30s about 6 foot tall and was still wearing the same clothes of a red and white nylon football shirt, jeans and trainers with day glo orange laces and he has a very short beard, a huge smile and waves his thumb and looks beseechingly at passers by. If you see him DO NOT pick him up and please call the CPNW ADT vehicle on 078 4569398 and Fish Hoek police station on 0217842709.

Suspicious rubbish removal

Date posted: August 29, 2014

Please be aware of a group of men in a white Opel Sedan CA 309 514 or in a Dark Blue BMW 3 Series CA 375 493 that may have a back number plate missing.
Their modus operandi is to solicit work, particularly refuse removal in a rather intimidatory fashion.
The alleged ringleader reportedly goes by the name Morton Daniels, he was recently apprehended in Fishoek and he is known to have a long criminal record.
We have been advised not to do any business with them.
If he is noted in the area, please report this to the ADT patrol vehicle 0784569398, SAPS 0217826333 and on the radio and Whatsapp networks.

Attempted Abduction

We have received the following notification:

On Monday, 11 August 2014, a 15 year old schoolgirl was involved in an attempted abduction outside Muizenberg School at around 14h40. She was walking home when the incident occurred. Thankfully, she eventually managed to get away.

The vehicle was a white single cab Toyota Hilux with a white canopy on the back which had no windows but had indents where the windows should be (solid shell). Registration CA864760.

The driver was a coloured male wearing all black. He had a small round face. He had short hair and a gap in-between his two front teeth.

The passenger was also a coloured male who had a longer face with pock marks/scars indented on his face around his jaws. He had greenish eyes. He was wearing a red pullover and blue jeans. He had very dark rings under his eyes and on his eyelids.

Please be cautious and aware.

The registration on the vehicle has been reported as stolen plates.

Watch out for this car.

This BMW has been involved in a number of recent break-ins in the San Michelle area. It is a very dark blue or black and changes it’s numberplate frequently. Usually occupied by 4 black males.

It is not a very common colour, so if you do notice it in the Chapmans’ Peak area please alert us asap.

If you have a radio call it in, otherwise call me on 0217890044 or the ADT car on 0784569398.

Thanks to SMNW for the picture.
